What is Needed to Hunt Hogs?

  1. Hunting License. A hunting license is required to hunt on public land, and permission from the landowner. All hunters are required to purchase a Captive Feral Swine Hunting License issued by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Food and forestry (ODAFF).

  2. Appropriate Clothing. In case you are not sure about the suitability of your clothing, you should generally wear pants that can endure in nature as well as boots to safeguard your feet. Camouflage or dark colors are suggested, but keep in mind that you must wear the correct amount of hunter's orange according to state law.

What Attracts Hogs the Best

A variety of baits may be utilized to successfully attract hogs, which are omnivores and eat both plants and animals.

Corn is a favorite ingredient in hog baits because hogs can quickly distinguish the scent. When soaked in water for several days, corn begins to “sour,” giving it a characteristic aroma that attracts hogs while keeping other animals, such as deer, at bay.
